Urban dance

The term 'urban dance' refers to events, performance and choreographic creations in public spaces and investigates the relationship between dance, dancing body and architecture. The expression 'urban dance' is not mentioned as a definition of the generation, but as an opening itself, a space for experimentation of the body in the urban context. It can understand among itself as an open ensemble, all the experiences that add dance, movement, urban landscape and public space. Being the city the continuous mirror of movement, this whole can not be considered open and in transformation, as a body can scold the space, discover other uses. According to these premises in this context can be considered close to experiences of around the 70s, such as that of Trisha Brown and Joan Jonas, as well as urban dance practices such as breakdance, skateboard dance and stalked city jumping.

Types of urban dance: hip hop, Bboying or breaking, uprocking, popping and locking, liquid dancing, tutting, waacking, krumping, new style, comercial dance, danceball and house dance.

Urban dances maintain the essence of their origins, while being constantly evolving.
