WHAT IS DEFORESTATION?


Deforestation is cutting trees down and destroying forests for human use such as arable land, pasture and urban use.


WHY IS THE ENVIRONMENT DAMAGED BECAUSE OF THE DEFORESTATION?


The deforestation has negative consequences to the environment. The main consequence is the loss of the habits of millions of species. Other consequences could be:


- loss of biodiversity

- 28.000 species are expected to become extinct by the next quearter of century

- deforestation affects water cycle


WHY ARE THE FORESTS SO IMPORTANT?


* Forests provide habitats for the animals and means of living for humans.

* Forests cover the 30% of the earthland.

* 20% of the wood is produced using trees from the Amazon forest.

* Trees are important consituents of the exosystem by absorbing carbon dioxide (CO2).

* 25% of the cancer fighting organisms are found in Amazon.

* Forests avoid the soil erosion, floods, wildlife extinction.


WHAT CAN WE DO TO AVOID THE DEFORESTATION?


- Not to use a lot of paper and cardboard for packaging.

- Reuse paper and plastic bags.

- Pick products which require less packaging.

- Use eco-friendly products.

- Be active and plant trees.


WE CAN FIGHT DEFORESTATION. YOUR POWER AS A CONSUMER IS VITAL TO STOP IT!
